Built On Wax: #Bars4Motivation Vol I
If you’re like me, chances are Hip Hop plays a big role in your LIFE. Hip Hop tells the story of the forgotten one or in my case the poverty stricken one, highlighting the struggles many of us experienced while growing up.
For me not only did Hip Hop tell a story similar to mine, but it also helped motivate me to chase my dreams. Hearing someone like Biggie say “it was all a dream” and then accomplishing those dreams inspired me to chase the things I only dreamed about.
I listen to Hip Hop everyday to keep my own movement moving and decided to grab three old school bars that really inspired me this week. Hopefully they put you in the right state of mind to hustle for everything you ever wanted.
One Life To Live, Notice You Get No SEQUELSo I Truly Got To Live This Like My LAST Movie
Hola Hovito-Jay Z
Back in early 2012 I was sitting at my employer’s cubicle and I started thinking about my life and accomplishments. I knew everyone was proud of my degrees, family, job, homes, all the basic stuff people expect you to have. However; I wasn’t really that happy, shit I had to wake up early to come to work and play on the Internet. I could do that at home and make money, this couldn’t be life.
Most of the people that had the same “accomplishments” as I would complain about the things they didn’t do. The money was great, but the quality of life wasn’t the one they expected and they were cool with it.
That same day I decided that I couldn’t star in the same movie that they were a part of, it just wasn’t me. A few months later I quit my job, and continued to fail at building 2 companies.
It wasn’t the movie I planned to star in but it was still a hit with me, little did I know LIFE began that day. Live your’s to the fullest and make your own rules.
Now I Could Let These Dream Killers Kill My Self-Esteem
Or Use My Arrogance As The STEAM To Power My DREAMS

When you start building something that people truly care for, the haters will show up. They will be there throwing everything at you and might even discredit your effort. But before you get to that point in your business you will have to deal with the haters within your circle. Trust me they don’t know they are being haters but they will be.
Tell one of your friends that you are quitting your job to start a t-shirt company. I dare YOU! Chances are they will say you are crazy and that there is no way you can make it work. Hate, hate, hate, and they didn’t even know it!
Remember it’s your vision not theirs, they won’t understand your arrogance. You are the only person that believes it’s possible in the beginning.
Don’t waste your time proving them wrong; prove to yourself that you’re right.

Entrepreneurship gives and it takes, most of the time it’s taking! Once you realize that the ups and downs are real, the chances of you surviving a win/loss increase.
When we decided to do live events with The Phat Startup, we didn’t know what we were doing. All we knew was that most events sucked and we could do it better. Things were going smoothly until around our 4th or 5th event.
We secured a great speaker, sold out the event, and you guess it they backed out a few days before the actual event. The world just fell on top of us, and it could have been over.
The pain was real, but we always knew things like this could happen. The same day we booked a different speaker, refunded all the ticket sales and proceeded to sell out the next event. It felt like we just won the championship but it felt even better because we overcame a huge obstacle.
Entrepreneurship isn’t GLAMOROUS but on the good days it sure does feel like it. Don’t let the bad days stop you from chasing the good days.
